NEW YORK, August 12, 2022 – Leading international law firm Proskauer is delighted to announce that it has been named to Bloomberg Law’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Framework, which recognizes law firms that meet or exceed a rising standard for DEI in their firm.
Proskauer was recognized for its level of disclosure of diversity-related metrics and distinguished performance against six core pillars: demographics, leadership and talent pipeline, recruitment and retention, business innovation and strategy, marketing, and diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
The Firm earned top marks in disclosure, business innovation and strategy, marketing, and diversity and inclusion in the community.
“Promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and in our communities is fundamental to our culture. We recognize that creating an inclusive environment empowers people to reach their highest potential and that our diverse experiences and perspectives allow us to achieve better outcomes for our clients,” said Peter Wilson, Jr., Proskauer’s Diversity + Inclusion Officer. “Through numerous policies and programs, we are proud of the culture we are fostering that ensures everyone has equitable access to the resources needed to succeed as a professional in the legal industry.”
With the goal of bettering the legal profession as a whole, the Firm has implemented several impactful policies and programs to support Proskauer’s culture of inclusion, including an Inclusion Training Program for all employees that addresses topics such as bias, cultural competence and inclusive leadership.
The Firm launched “Collaborate for Change,” a campaign focused on activism and antiracism that includes a speaker series that explores specific concepts relating to racism, equity and inclusion and is open to participation by the entire Firm, its alumni and client community. Each year, Proskauer commits to providing at least 25,000 hours of time to racial justice causes. Since 2020, the Firm has far exceeded that goal, contributing over 70,000 hours to more than 500 matters.
Through its Silver Scholar Program, the Firm cultivates the next generation of diverse lawyers by awarding scholarships to first- and second-year law school students. To further support the career development and professional growth of high performing lawyers, Proskauer created the Women’s Sponsorship Program which selects distinguished partners to serve as sponsors to mid- and senior-level women lawyers.
“The desire to incorporate DEI into the selection process for outside legal services presents a new challenge for the industry, but Proskauer has distinguished itself as a law firm worthy of consideration,” said Joe Breda, President, Bloomberg Law. “Through a demonstrated commitment to DEI, Proskauer is helping to move the legal industry forward and we recognize their performance by naming them as a member of our 2022 DEI Framework.”
Bloomberg Law’s DEI Framework was developed in 2021 in collaboration with Bloomberg’s Gender-Equality Index team, as well as diversity leads at corporations and U.S.-based law firms. Performance was assessed across more than 85 metrics, each associated with one of the framework’s six core pillars.
