The Proskauer Women’s Alliance (PWA) is the Firm’s flagship initiative for women. Led by a steering committee of associates and senior counsel, and advised by partners, the PWA promotes inclusion across the Firm and provides increased career development and personal brand building opportunities for women lawyers.
Throughout the year, the PWA brings Proskauer lawyers together for a variety of workshop series and events. The popular “Building Blocks for Success” series brings in Firm leaders and expert guest speakers to share their views on a variety of topics, such as effective management techniques and developing executive presence. The PWA also hosts a quarterly “Third Thursday” event which brings women lawyers together for informal, roundtable discussions over coffee and dessert.
In addition to internal Firm events, the PWA hosts an annual client and alumni event which creates an opportunity for clients, fellow members of the Firm, and Proskauer alumni to network with one another. The event highlights a philanthropic organization each year, and a percentage of the funds raised are donated to the designated charity.
Sandy Crawshaw-Sparks, litigation partner and entertainment lawyer who has been involved with the PWA since its inception, remarks that “It’s important for more junior women to see that it’s possible to take on many roles…and be able to enjoy and succeed at them. There is no better way to make that point than by developing real relationships between junior and senior women, with senior women investing in the success of those coming up through the ranks behind them.”
The PWA is one of several programs at the Firm aimed at promoting our core values of diversity and inclusion, which we hold as a fundamental part of our history and culture. To learn more about Proskauer’s women’s initiatives, click here.
“The PWA aims to create programming and foster discussions that are important to female lawyers. I have found that Proskauer takes seriously and engages in the discussions raised through the PWA, and is willing to put innovative solutions into action.”
