Private Funds Expansion Continues
LONDON, April 2 2025 – Leading international law firm Proskauer is pleased to welcome Duncan Woollard as a partner in the Private Funds Group in London. Duncan, a well-known lawyer in the European market, brings decades of experience across a variety of asset classes to Proskauer with particular expertise across private equity, private credit and real assets.
“Duncan is a tremendous addition to the Firm” said Tim Mungovan, Chair of the Firm. “His proven track record and market knowledge will be extremely valuable to our clients and will bring additional firepower to our award-winning private funds team.”
Duncan advises on a wide range of fund-related work across asset classes and strategies including private equity (buyout, venture and funds-of-funds), private credit (direct lending, mezzanine, distressed and special situations), real assets (real estate, natural resources and infrastructure), as well as activist funds. He also advises on the structuring of carried interest, co-investment and other incentive schemes, secondary transactions, fund restructurings and spin-outs, and the establishment of new investment management businesses.
“Duncan is highly regarded in the private funds market and has advised a broad range of sponsors on their fundraisings and strategic projects for well over two decades and through various market cycles” said Nigel van Zyl, co‑head of the Firm’s Private Funds Group. “Duncan’s arrival and his wealth of experience reinforces our strategic focus on expanding our growing global funds practice with top-tier senior talent and marquee clients. I am thrilled to welcome him to Proskauer.”
Duncan’s arrival continues a strong lateral growth streak for Proskauer’s Private Funds Group, which has welcomed 11 partners across New York, London and Paris since the start of 2024. In 2024, this included James Oussedik in London, Jennifer Crystal, Jennifer Dunn and Patrick Dundas in New York, and Agnès Rossi and Marcela Moraruin Paris. In 2025, this has included Christine Harlow and Nathan Schuur who joined in New York and Washington, D.C. respectively, Gwenaël Kropfinger who joined in Paris and Delphine Jaugey in London.
In 2024, the Firm’s Private Funds Group saw final closes of over 75 closed-end funds with an aggregate value of $67 billion and was recognized as a Practice Group of the Year by Law360.
“GPs and LPs need forward-thinking partners to navigate increasing challenges,” said Duncan. “Proskauer’s reputation for innovation and a collaborative approach made it a natural fit for the next phase of my career.
