LOS ANGELES, June 26, 2023 – Proskauer, a leading international law firm, is pleased to announce that partners Bart Williams and Sandra (Sandy) Crawshaw-Sparks have been named 2023 Visionaries by the Los Angeles Times’ Business of Law. Sandy and Bart were recognized for being leaders in their fields and for their contributions to the legal industry over the past two years.
Bart is chair of Proskauer’s Litigation Department and serves as head of the Firm’s Los Angeles office. As one of the nation’s most sought-after trial lawyers and commercial litigators, Bart advises clients on the management of their most complex litigation crises and tries their most important cases before juries and judges. He is frequently called in just months or even weeks before a trial to deliver a win. Recently, he secured a landmark victory for Monsanto in a case brought by a woman claiming that the use of the herbicide Roundup caused her non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and was lead counsel to Miramax in a lawsuit filed against director Quentin Tarantino alleging intellectual property infringement and breach of contract in connection with Tarantino’s offering of non-fungible tokens relating to the Miramax film Pulp Fiction. In September 2022, Miramax settled its copyright suit against filmmaker Mr. Tarantino.
A bi-coastal litigator and chair of Proskauer’s Entertainment, Copyright and Media Practice, Sandy has served as lead counsel for high-profile clients on some of the biggest, industry-shaping matters in entertainment. Her practice includes representing the most iconic names in the music industry on matters involving recording, publishing, licensing and management contracts, copyrights, trademark rights, unfair competition claims and the rights of privacy and publicity. She also negotiates pre-litigation resolutions of highly sensitive and confidential entertainment-related disputes. Sandy is also the National Legal Counsel for the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Inc. and has long-served on the Board of Directors of the GRAMMY Museum’s Entertainment Law Initiative, which promotes discussion and debate about the most compelling legal issues facing the music industry.
Those selected for inclusion in the Los Angeles Times’ Business of Law: Updates, Trends & Visionaries magazine were selected by the LA Times’ B2B publishing team based on their average success rate; settlements and verdicts won in the last two years; leadership positions within the firm and community; and board affiliations and recognitions.
