Sergon Sancar

Sergon Sancar is a counsel in the global corporate investigations & compliance practice, specializing in anti-corruption, compliance and corporate governance. He advises clients across various industries such as aerospace, oil and gas, manufacturing, energy, aviation and luxury sectors on regulatory frameworks, including the French Sapin II Law, the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the U.K. Bribery Act. He also provides guidance on U.K.-related economic sanctions, export controls and trade compliance.

Sergon has extensive experience leading and managing complex internal investigations into corporate misconduct, including corruption and fraud, and has assisted clients in responding to inquiries from regulators such as the U.S. Department of Justice, the French Parquet National Financier, and the U.K. Serious Fraud Office. He has represented companies in anti-corruption audits by the Agence Française Anticorruption and worked with external monitors on global risk assessments and compliance reviews.

Sergon also helps businesses strengthen their compliance programs, having designed and implemented risk-based frameworks, conducted anti-corruption risk mappings and led global compliance reviews across multinational operations. In addition, he has developed and delivered tailored anti-corruption training programs for senior management, focusing on best practices in investigations. Sergon has also drafted and refined internal compliance policies, particularly regarding the implementation of compliance programs in joint ventures. During a secondment to a major oil and gas company, he provided in-house legal advice and managed internal investigations related to renewable energy projects. 

Sergon has a strong interest in ESG-related compliance, particularly in the context of the EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, and broader duty of care obligations, advising on how businesses can align with evolving regulatory expectations.

Qualified to practice in Paris, Madrid, and as a Solicitor in England & Wales, Sergon has a strong understanding of both civil law and common law systems, allowing him to navigate complex cross-border legal and compliance matters effectively.
