May 1, 2019 (New York) – International law firm Proskauer announced today the arrival of Seetha Ramachandran as a partner in its Litigation Department.

Ms. Ramachandran is a leading expert in anti-money laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act, economic sanctions and asset forfeiture matters who joins the Firm from Schulte Roth & Zabel.
Ms. Ramachandran was a federal prosecutor for nearly a decade including as Deputy Chief in the Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering Section (AFMLS), Criminal Division, U.S. Department of Justice. She was the first head of DOJ’s Money Laundering & Bank Integrity Unit whose work developing and charging criminal cases under the Bank Secrecy Act formed the model for AML enforcement used by regulators and prosecutors. She is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer who has conducted ten criminal jury trials, argued ten appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and handled ancillary civil proceedings in forfeiture cases. She also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, in the Complex Frauds, Major Crimes and Asset Forfeiture units.
Ms. Ramachandran received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Brown University and her J.D. from Columbia Law School.
Named a Finalist for Litigation Department of the Year by the New York Law Journal, Proskauer was praised for its role on several major victories for its clients over the past year. The highly-accomplished Litigation Department includes former senior government officials and prosecutors with formidable trial and regulatory experience including Hadassa Waxman, a former supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, who joined the Firm last month.
Proskauer has recently welcomed a number of lateral partners to its transactional and contentious practices, with Ms. Ramachandran’s arrival marking the 12th lateral in the last 12 months.
