NEW YORK, April 7, 2025 – Leading international law firm Proskauer is proud to announce that Sports Business Journal has named partner Arthur Burke to its 2025 “Forty Under 40” list, an annual celebration of the best young talent in the business of sports. A partner in Proskauer’s Sports Group, Arthur’s clients range from premier sports leagues and teams to high net worth individuals and private investment funds. His practice includes complex transactions, governance challenges and innovative growth opportunities through private capital investments. Since joining Proskauer, Arthur has emerged as a young leader in sports law through his work on landmark team sales, league expansions and investments into both men’s and women’s sports.
Arthur has advised several major leagues (NHL, NBA, MLS and NWSL) on the creation and implementation of private capital policies, and over the past 12 months has advised multiple funds in connection with the NFL’s newly approved private equity investment process. This included representing funds managed by Ares Management on their acquisition of a 10% stake in the Miami Dolphins, the first investment by a fund in an NFL club following the league’s rule changes to allow institutional capital. He also worked on several matters involving women’s sports teams and leagues, including advising OL Groupe (now Eagle Football Group) in the $58 million sale of Seattle Reign FC to a consortium including the Seattle Sounders and global investment firm Carlyle and advising the Women’s Tennis Association in a strategic partnership with CVC Capital Partners, the largest investment in a single property in the history of women’s sports.
Beyond his practice, Arthur is a dedicated mentor and regularly provides pro bono legal services to clients in the entertainment and arts sectors.
Individuals selected for Sports Business Journal’s annual Forty Under 40 list were evaluated on several factors, including accomplishments over their career, the scope of influence within their area of expertise and specific business results driven by the ideas and execution of the nominee. Past honorees include league commissioners and officers; team presidents and senior executives; top media executives; brand-side marketers and the heads of the industry’s top agencies.
