Arthur Burke is a partner in the Corporate Department and member of the Sports Group, focusing his practice on mergers and acquisitions, material transactions, governance and general corporate matters with an emphasis on the sports, media and entertainment industries. He regularly advises in the negotiation and structuring of equity transactions and joint ventures on behalf of a diverse range of clients, including professional sports leagues, owners and teams, private equity funds, media entities and other sports-adjacent companies. Arthur also has significant experience counseling clients on a range of complex and material commercial arrangements, including stadium and arena development and financing arrangements, media licensing agreements, sponsorship agreements and naming rights deals, offering clients tailored solutions grounded in legal insight and industry understanding.
Arthur serves as an advisor to numerous professional sports leagues on various aspects of their formation, governance, league rules and team or league equity sales.
Arthur has extensive experience in the growing role of private equity and institutional capital in professional sports, counseling the NHL, NBA, MLS and NWSL on the creation and implementation of their respective private equity policies (and, where applicable, sovereign wealth investment policies), as well as multiple funds in the NFL’s private equity investment process and related transactions.
