Montgomery and Williams Named 2024 Legal Visionaries
LOS ANGELES, November 18, 2024 – Proskauer, a leading international law firm, is pleased to share that private credit partner Sandra Lee Montgomery and litigation partner Bart Williams have been named 2024 Visionaries by The Los Angeles Times’ Business of Law magazine for their contributions to the Firm and leadership within their fields.
Sandra is a well-respected leader in banking and finance, having closed more than $5.5 billion in transactions for first- and second-lien senior lenders, mezzanine investors and equity sponsors across the country in 2023 alone. In particular, Sandra has in-depth experience in complicated finance structures for alternative lenders. Her areas of focus include acquisitions, recapitalization and other leveraged financings, cash flow and asset-based financings, debtor-in-possession and exit financings, cross-border financings, unitranche and mezzanine financings and restructurings.
Sandra serves on the Firm’s Executive Committee and the Women Partners Advisory Committee and was the co-Chair of the New Business Committee for the last four years. She is also active in the Firm’s Asian Lawyer Affinity group and is a mentor in the Firm’s Diverse Lawyer Mentoring Circle Program.
A renowned trial lawyer and commercial litigator, Bart is strategic, diligent, and persuasive. He has extensive experience across commercial litigation, white collar criminal defense and internal corporate investigations. His legal prowess has made him the trusted trial counsel for numerous Fortune 500 companies in high-stakes, high-profile matters, and he is frequently called upon months or even weeks before a trial to deliver a win. Bart served as lead trial counsel for Netflix, director/writer Ava DuVernay and writer Attica Locke in a defamation case brought in federal court in New York by former longtime head of the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office sex crimes unit. His leadership led to an extremely successful resolution for the clients when the plaintiff decided to settle the case on the eve of trial with no payment to her or her lawyers, and no confidentiality provision related to the settlement.
Bart serves as Chair of Proskauer’s Litigation Department and head of its Los Angeles office. He also sits on Proskauer’s Diversity Task Force, which is dedicated to recruiting, retaining, promoting and elevating diverse lawyers across the Firm. In addition, Bart actively contributes to the Los Angeles community where he lends his expertise and advocates for children through various organizations.
Now in its fourth year, The Los Angeles Times’ Business of Law magazine presents informative articles covering the business of law and profiles top attorneys in California. Individuals were selected for inclusion based on a variety of criteria, including noteworthy accomplishments over the last 12-24 months, consistent demonstration of strong leadership and the impact they have made to their organization and industry.
