Pommer will Bolster the Firm’s SEC Regulatory Compliance and Enforcement Capabilities
WASHINGTON, D.C., February 1, 2023 – Proskauer, a leading international law firm, is pleased to welcome Robert (Bob) Pommer as a partner in its Litigation Department. Bob has deep securities-related enforcement and compliance experience and will bolster the Firm’s securities litigation and regulatory enforcement capabilities for asset managers. He will be based in Proskauer’s Washington, D.C. office.
“As we continue to grow our regulatory enforcement practice, Bob’s background will not only enhance our securities litigation capabilities, but will allow us to continue to support private funds and their investors on matters that are unique to their industry. We are excited to welcome him to the team,” said Daryn A. Grossman, Managing Partner of Proskauer.
Bob’s practice focuses on a broad range of securities-related enforcement and compliance issues. He represents private fund managers, financial institutions, public companies and their senior executives in enforcement investigations and litigation conducted by the SEC, the U.S. Department of Justice and other governmental entities and financial services regulators. He also conducts internal investigations and counsels companies on regulatory compliance, corporate governance and other SEC-related issues.
Prior to entering private practice, Bob served as Assistant Chief Litigation Counsel in the SEC’s Division of Enforcement for nine years. While there, he investigated and litigated several high-profile cases involving complex financial fraud and audit failures. Following his tenure at the SEC, Bob developed industry-leading experience and expertise representing asset managers in regulatory enforcement matters. He joins from Kirkland & Ellis.
“Last year, we saw an unprecedented number of regulatory changes and proposals from the SEC that impacted asset managers, and it is likely we will see many more this year. Bob’s extensive experience will be invaluable as we work together to help clients navigate the changing regulatory environment and enforcement priorities,” said Tim Mungovan, chair of the Firm’s Litigation Department.
Bob joins a deep bench of SEC regulatory compliance and enforcement practitioners across Proskauer’s Asset Management and Litigation practices. These partners include Josh Newville (Litigation) and Robert Plaze (Asset Management), who also have direct experience working at the SEC, and Bill MacGregor and Rob Sutton (Asset Management), who both joined the Firm last year.
“At a time of heightened regulatory focus, Proskauer has an impressive track record defending against government actions and investigations. I am excited to join this dynamic team and leverage my regulatory experience as we continue to serve as go-to advisers for the asset management industry,” said Bob.
Bob received his B.A. from Boston College and J.D. from Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law.
