NEW YORK, April 26, 2024 – Proskauer, a leading international law firm, today announced that it advised Bedrock Management Services LLC and its affiliates (“Bedrock”), on lease agreements with General Motors (“GM”) for the anchor tenancy at Bedrock’s Hudson’s Detroit development. In 2025, GM will relocate its global headquarters to Hudson’s Detroit, located at the historic site of the former J.L. Hudson Department Store on Woodward Avenue. This will be GM’s fourth headquarters location in the city since 1911.
Bedrock’s Hudson’s Detroit is a 1.5-million square-foot development featuring ground-floor retail, a 5-star hotel, rooftop bar, residential condominiums, a public plaza, parking and large event spaces. The complex is comprised of a 12-story office building with event and retail spaces, and an adjacent 45-floor hotel and residential tower, with sweeping city views at every level.
According to a press release, GM has entered into an initial 15-year, multi-level lease for the top office floors of the state-of-the-art office building with Bedrock, an award-winning real estate developer focused on the downtowns of Detroit and Cleveland. They have also leased showcase space on the street level of Hudson’s Detroit for GM vehicles and community activation.
The Proskauer team advising Bedrock included partners Keith Barnett (Real Estate) and David Miller (Tax) and associate Nicholas Bette (Real Estate).
