Shaina L. Maldonado is an associate in the Corporate Department and a member of the Registered Funds Group.
Shaina advises asset managers on a range of issues relating to the creation and management of regulated fund products, including open-end and closed-end investment companies registered under the Investment Company Act of 1940, as well as business development companies (BDCs) and other alternative vehicles.
Shaina assists managers with matters such as fund formation and structuring questions, ongoing SEC filing and compliance obligations under federal securities laws, shareholder proposals and proxy solicitations, and tender offer regulations under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934. She has successfully assisted numerous clients to apply for and obtain SEC exemptive relief across various categories, including co-investment relief, multi-class relief, and relief for employees’ securities companies (ESCs).
Shaina also assists with several of the firm's high-impact pro bono initiatives, such as the New York State Permanent Commission on Access to Justice's Annual Report to the Chief Judge of the State of New York.
