On June 12, 2024, Proskauer’s New York office hosted an intimate gathering of Private Investment Funds (PIF) in-house alumni and current Proskauer attorneys. The event commenced with a short Q&A session between associate Alex Martin and partner Rob Sutton during which Rob shared his insights and perspectives on the current regulatory issues facing private funds. Attendees spent the remainder of the evening reconnecting over cocktails and appetizers alongside past and present Proskauer PIF attorneys.
Those in attendance included alumni now at various firms including Ares, Blackstone, First Eagle Investment, StepStone and RedBird Capital.
“We feel like we have a great opportunity to regularly bring our New York PIF in-house alumni together,” commented Chip Parsons, co-head of the PIF Group. “Not only do we genuinely enjoy being together, but our alumni are confronted with many of the same issues. We believe a forum such as this provides a unique way to support our former colleagues by sharing legal and market intelligence.”
As the evening progressed, the conversation included not only discussion around the SEC’s rulemaking potential within the industry, but also countless stories and anecdotes that were shared from memories of years spent working together.
“I loved walking through familiar hallways and seeing so many friendly faces at the event,” said Alexia Boyarsky, associate general counsel at TPG. “And it was immensely gratifying to see old friends progressing their careers both at Proskauer or in in-house roles.”
“Our alumni are such an important part of practice both past and present,” added Monica Arora, co-head of the PIF Group. “It was truly heartwarming to spend time together, and I'm eagerly looking forward to our next PIF in-house alumni gathering later this year.”
