October 9, 2018 (NEW YORK) – Proskauer hosted student members of Cornell University’s Black Ivy Pre-Law Society for a panel discussion with pro bono partner Bill Silverman, and four associates. Associate panelists Yomarie Habenicht, Andrew Santana, Brittany Perskin and Jose Medina shared their own experiences of choosing to become a lawyer, navigating law school and deciding to join Proskauer. The discussion also focused on matters that were of high interest to the students, including Proskauer’s current pro bono efforts related to immigration and asylum.
The Black Ivy Pre-Law Society is a professional honor society for students of color who are dedicated to pursuing a degree and career in law upon graduation from Cornell University. Society members are currently engaged in a mentorship program with Proskauer lawyers organized by the Firm’s Diversity & Inclusion team. Following the panel, students networked and engaged with their Proskauer mentors during a reception.
