July 23, 2018 (NEW YORK) – Summer associates from Proskauer’s New York and New Jersey offices spent a day of service at GrowNYC’s urban farm on Governors Island.
GrowNYC is a nonprofit that aims to improve the city’s quality of life by providing environmental initiatives that transform communities and secure sustainable, healthy environments for future generations.
Our 43 volunteers harvested 10 pints of berries, moved 10 wheelbarrows of stones that will be used for building compost bins, and sanded and painted 10 garden beds that will be transported to inner-city urban gardens.
Ayisha McHugh, a summer associate in the New York office, said that the Firm’s summer associate program “really focuses on developing us as people, not just as up-and-coming attorneys. The program emphasizes the importance of giving back and being a part of a community that’s a lot bigger than yourself. And I think that makes a difference.”
