The Silver Scholar Program is a scholarship award for highly talented and self-motivated first and second year law students whose life experiences, interests and achievements demonstrate a dedication to Proskauer’s values and a spirit of determination. Students selected to be Silver Scholars will receive a summer associate position at Proskauer and be eligible for a cash award payable in installments. The award is named after Edward Silver, the first elected Chairman of Proskauer and a premier advocate of his time. The program reflects and is an outgrowth of Ed's lifelong commitment to creating equal opportunity for all those wishing to pursue a legal career. 

The Silver Scholar Program aims to attract law students aligned with the vision of our Impact Initiative. Proskauer Impact is the Firm’s global platform for community engagement, focused on advancing the pillars of equality, opportunity, and justice. Through volunteerism, nonprofit partnerships, and strategic initiatives across all offices, Proskauer Impact reflects the Firm’s commitment to strengthening communities, expanding access, and fostering meaningful, measurable change. We seek applicants whose experiences, values, and aspirations reflect the spirit of Proskauer Impact. The program supports future lawyers who demonstrate a commitment to creating positive change—whether by advancing equality, expanding opportunity, or advocating for justice in their schools, workplaces, or communities.

Program Details

1L Applicants

To receive the entire award, the student must:

• Accept an offer to participate in the summer associate program;
• Successfully complete Proskauer’s summer associate program during their 1L summer;
• Return to Proskauer for their 2L summer and successfully complete a joint summer associate program with Proskauer and one of Proskauer’s key clients; and
• Receive and accept an offer to join our firm as an associate

Eligibility

All applicants must meet the following criteria:

• U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.
• Enrollment in a full-time program at an ABA-accredited law school
• Outstanding undergraduate and law school academic achievement

The online application process will ask for the following materials:

• Resume
• Law school transcripts (We understand that you may not have received your first semester grades. If that is the case, please submit your current materials and provide a completed transcript as soon as you are able. All supplemental documents should be sent to silverscholar@proskauer.com.)
• Applicants may choose one of the following essay prompts, each centered on one or more core pillars of Proskauer Impact.
  • Proskauer Impact seeks to strengthen communities by advancing equality, opportunity, and justice. Describe a community initiative, service project, or leadership role you’ve taken on that embodies one or more of these pillars. What was the impact, and what did you learn about your ability to lead change?
  • How do your background, experiences, or aspirations connect to Proskauer Impact’s pillars of equality, opportunity, and justice? Describe a specific moment that illustrates your commitment to one or more of these values and how it informs your future in the legal profession.

Please note that the entire application must be completed in order to qualify. Students selected for further consideration will be asked to meet with members of our selection committee.
